All of my mentoring experience has been based on reacting intuitively. It has been my luck that so far my apprentices have been naturally curious. They ask, I answer. I reply I immediately, as I either have something to say, or I don't. My answers could be arranged in groups:
-
my personal experience in similar or comparable situations;
-
my subjective understanding of the question or situation;
-
my knowledge/ acquaintance with persons, whose skills and expertise cover the question or situation at hand.
In the first two cases, we have a discussion. It allows me to consider multiple approaches that might eventually be different from my previous experience. I, thus, consider this an opportunity for personal growth.
